Family and community are at the heart of every day for Melina at Freshabake.  As a fifth-generation baker Melina proudly explains “our family has been continuously baking since 1852.”

Melina’s parents opened Freshabake at Oakleigh Central 33 years ago and Melina has been part of the team for 30 years.  She explains her parents chose Oakleigh Central for “location, location, location and for the wonderful community and opportunity.”

Freshabake is known for its Greek pastries, sweet and savoury buns, doughnuts, bread loaves and other delicious baked goods. Melina has too many favourite products to choose just one.

It’s clear that people are a real highlight: “The people of our community” are top of Melina’s list of what she loves about her job.  She enjoys all the different personalities who come to the store and the strong community at Oakleigh Central.

Melina loves the connection between all the traders at Oakleigh Central and the local community.  Melina is also proud of the Freshabake team and the great service they offer their customers.

Melina’s favourite memory of Oakleigh Central is “Greek Easter and the marching of the lambs and goats for a feast after a 40 day fast. It is a real village, especially at Easter and Christmas.”  She adds, “the local community are all about family and the love of sharing food.”
