Bakers Delight owners, Kiran and his wife Lani, have been part of the Oakleigh Central community for 15 years.  After so long, Kiran knows most of his customers by name. 

The connection runs deep, with Bakers Delight Oakleigh Central becoming a part of Kiran’s customers’ lives.  “Our customers tell us that our freshly baked bread has become part of their family routine,” says Kiran. Fresh bread in the morning for school lunches, a quick after-school snack, and bread for family meals bring the community to Kiran’s store throughout the day.

The family connection is strengthened by the opportunity Kiran provides for his customers’ children and grandchildren.  Many of them have started their first jobs at Kiran’s store, and Kiran is proud of the Uni students he has seen gain work experience as part of his team.

Kiran is passionate about the contribution he and his team make to the community. At the end of each day un-sold bread is donated to a charities, schools and clubs so that the community benefits.  “For us, what’s important is giving back to the community where we belong, being part of it,” explains Kiran.

“Everything is made from scratch, here on site.  It’s made with a lot of love,” says Kiran.  The bakers start when everyone is sleeping, and there are no shortcuts.  The baking team put in a lot of time, skill and attention to detail to get each item just right.  With a range of over 80 different products, Kiran says “we make what the Oakleigh community loves.”

For Kiran, there’s a simple recipe for a great day at Oakleigh Central: “I love the people.  There’s a real sense of support and understanding between everyone here.”
